Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin and so many other social media update their interface 3-4 times a month, or perhaps even more than that! Sometimes, the change is insignificant to your company, but some can be drastic as well. For examples, when Facebook did a clickbait update, certain industry, such as the wealth creation industry, were heavily affected.

That’s why its always good to keep an eye on the latest social media news so that you know it will not affect your business.

We know it’s a hassle to read up on each and every update. But fear not, there are existing tools out there to help you summarise the news and stay on the ball.

#1: TechCrunch

TechCrunch is the place for all things techy, including social media. They offer daily updates that are of significance to many businesses around the globe.

Stroll down on TechCrunch site till you see their Newsletter Subscription offer! But don’t just click into their readily available selection there (unless you are interested in the tech industry as a whole too), click into “See All Newsletter”. You will be directed to their entire list of newsletter selection. Pretty neat, right? What we are interested in is “TC Social Media”.

Just a heads-up, TechCrunch is awesome but their social media updates are centred around the happenings at America. For examples, when they announced that a new Twitter function is rolling out, it might not be released in Singapore yet. Sometimes, these updates may never make it to Singapore.

Here is an example of TechCrunch’s newsletter.

#2: TangyLab

Let’s not forget the Tangylab’s blog subscription (which you can subscribe towards thr right of the screen, yeah just there)! We offer social media updates happening in Singapore and will be doing localisation testing of these updates. If you are interested in our review, check out how we Facebook tested lead ads in the Singaporean market.

Our newsletter comes every month showcasing the top 4 relevant content of the month that you should know about.

We will help you filter the important information that can potentially affect your business. We would occasionally post up bite-size news on our Facebook page as well. Most of our content focuses on Facebook and Instagram marketing, as well as lead generation strategies in the Singapore market. We also have a habit of sharing local news for SMEs and start-ups, like Singapore’s MRA Grant which supports your overseas expansion. If you would like to subscribe to us to learn more about the latest marketing and social media news from us, here is a quick button that you can click:

#3: Google Alerts

Google Alert a great tool that allows you to follow news post, blogs and website based by tracking a specific keyword.

Let’s say I want to follow news about Facebook. All I have to do is to key in “Facebook” on the bar and they will automatically create a Google Alert for me.

With Google Alerts, you will receive an email on the topic that you are interested to receive updates on. Don’t limit yourself to just social media updates with Google Alerts! Use it to keep abreast on the latest happening in your industry, or even your hobby!

The downside to Google Alerts can be its frequency. It is automatically set to a daily update so it can get slightly annoying when it starts to clog your email. Feel free to adjust the frequency to once a week.

Change your alert setting to adjust the email frequency.

Knowing the changes in your social media channels is an important step to sharpen your content marketing and lead generation campaign. So start following some of these channel now and up your game.
